What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-2026 Building-based Substitute Teacher Hanscom K-4 position at Hanscom Middle School?
The Lincoln Public Schools is looking for an individual to be a Permanent Building-Based Substitute for the 2025-2026 school year. You will be assigned to work at the Hanscom K-4 school. The position is daily, from 7:50-3:00, which allows the position to support dismissal starting at 2:55. Employees may be asked to work past dismissal on Wednesdays (12:35 p.m.). You will report to the main office each day and be assigned to cover for a teacher or paraprofessional when they are absent. As much as is possible, you will know ahead of time which schedule and teacher you will be covering.
Duties:
- Assigned to rotate into various teaching positions in the school on a daily basis and possibly throughout the day
- Implement teacher lesson plans and administrator directives with fidelity and efficiency
- Communicate with classroom teachers or school administrators regarding expectations for student work, behavior, and lesson execution
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students and staff.
- Ensure the teacher’s absence does not cause an interruption in classroom instruction
- Gain familiarity with district curriculum and resources
- Perform supervisory duties as assigned (such as lunch, bus, or recess duty)
- Abide by state statutes, school committee policies and regulations
- Perform duties and responsibilities as assigned by principal or designee
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff personnel information
- Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the District
- Ability to be flexible with job assignments as needed
Daily per diem $127.13 - this is a full-time, benefits' and Middlesex County Retirement System eligible position. Paid sick leave accrues at one (1) sick day per month (cumulative up to five days). Will work 180 student days.
