Hanover Hill Health Care Center is hiring a full-time Activities Assistant to provide meaningful and enriching activities to the residents at our upscale, 124 bed long-term care and skilled nursing facility. Located on a beautiful campus in Manchester, New Hampshire!
The Activities Assistant is responsible for helping to plan, direct and document engaging activity programs based on resident needs, interests, and abilities. This is a full-time position. Requires some holidays and working every other weekend.
Education / Experience Requirements:
- Some experience working with geriatric populations preferred
- Must have experience with or comfortable being trained to drive a motorcoach transport vehicle.
Specific Requirements:
- Have a passion and compassion for working with the elderly.
- Able to function independently and have flexibility and adaptability to daily routines to accommodate residents' needs .
- Maintain an encouraging demeanor and promote resident engagement in meaningful daily activities.
- Display excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles, think outside the box and be willing to incorporate into existing activity programs.
- Have at least a basic understanding of the social, psychological and recreational needs of the patients/residents in the facility.
- Be able to handle multi-task oriented projects.
- Possess well developed organizational skills and abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable operating the facility’s shuttle bus
- Able to move intermittently throughout the day
- Able to cope with potential mental and emotional stress of the position
- Maintain good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
- Able to transport residents in wheelchairs, to and from an activity and assist ambulating residents when needed.
- May be required to lift equipment, supplies, and occasionally move furniture
