Communications/Journalism Internship Opportunity
Hannah News Service‐Midwest is offering a unique internship opportunity in the journalism and communications arena. Most internships require full‐time commitments. Hannah News Service will consider interns able to work as few as 10 hours per week. The experience, regardless of hours worked, will last a lifetime and may very well serve as a foot‐in‐the‐door to a media career.
The Hannah internship experience
Interns with Hannah will learn much about the fast-paced world of government and policy journalism and communications. They will interview and connect with the influencers and policymakers in the Indiana state government. Interns will work with a team of experienced journalists to contribute work to Hannah News Service’s four Indiana Insight newsletters: Indiana Legislative Insight, Indiana Education Insight, Indiana Gaming Insight, and Indiana Transportation Insight.
Work hours for this internship are flexible, but all applicants MUST submit their availability and total number of desired hours with a résumé.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Write articles and newsletter content
- Research topics for newsletter content
- Assist with interviews and covering events
- Take notes at various legislative meetings
- Collaborate with the Hannah News team on story ideas
The following qualifications are preferred in interested applicants, but not required:
Enrollment in a journalism or communications degree program. Work experience in a student newsroom, professional newsroom, or another media job.
Compensation:
$15 per hour; up to 20 hours per week
Work created by interns will be available to Hannah’s entire subscriber base. Interns will leave with clips and work samples to showcase and a full evaluation from Hannah management. College credit is also available for many students.

August 10, 2026 – November 20, 2026
