In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently closing the kitchen at the end of each shift, ensuring all food preparation, cleaning, and safety standards are meticulously followed. Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as fryers and toaster during closing procedures
- Prepare food items for storage or future use by following proper food handling and safety protocols
- Ensure all food preparation areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with health standards
- Properly store leftover ingredients and prepared foods to prevent spoilage or contamination
- Assist with inventory checks and restocking supplies needed for upcoming shifts
- Follow recipe adherence and portion control guidelines during meal prep for the next day
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate closing tasks and ensure smooth shift transitions
- Prepare tickets as they come in and pay attention to detail and customer preference
- Be able to work in a fast paced environment and have a sense of urgency to finish the job on time
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department, dietary aide role, or food service environment preferred
- Knowledge of food safety management, safety standards in production, and proper food handling techniques
- Skilled in food preparation, cooking, slicing techniques, knife skills, and meal assembly
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and catering processes is a plus
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen team members
- Ability to follow strict safety standards in production and maintain cleanliness throughout the shift
- Prior restaurant or food industry experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail during closing procedures
