Job Responsibilities/Duties

H2C is seeking a Health Physicist in the Radiological Engineering Department. They will provide support for ensuring radiological compliance in accordance with all applicable government and industry standards, rules, and regulations pertaining to nuclear radiation.


  • The position develops, reviews, and revises company level technical basis documents and procedures, and performs assessments of radiological control functional areas to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Updates and maintains the Radiological Control Program within the assigned area(s) of responsibility and provides Health Physicist leadership to those preparing documents and procedures implementing these requirements.
  • Performs field walk downs as deemed necessary to ensure implementation pertaining to area(s) of responsibility.
  • Reviews and approves design drawings to ensure verified calculations have been included.
  • Functions as lead or Subject Matter Expert within Radiological related task teams and committees.
  • Demonstrates site/complex-wide knowledge and experiences.
  • Provides briefings, presentations, reports, and memoranda to customers and company's internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops and supports maintenance of program manuals and procedures that provide adequate radiation protection for personnel performing work within a radiological environment.
  • This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Radiological Control practices and requirements, safety procedures, and work management policies as they apply to radiological control.
  • Participate in hazard assessments for both new designs and projects deemed to have detrimental effects to the company if an improper assessment was established.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Integrated Tank Disposition Contract (ITDC) vision and its core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Grade 19:

Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in nuclear engineering, health physics, applicable science or engineering discipline or other related field and 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Grade 20:

Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in nuclear engineering, health physics, applicable science or engineering discipline or other related field and 10 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.


Grade 21:

Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in nuclear engineering, health physics, applicable science or engineering discipline or other related field and 12 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.


Desired Qualifications

  • An in-depth understanding in all aspects of the Operational Radiation Protection Program.
  • An in-depth knowledge of Hanford operating practices
  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP) preferred.


Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.


Hiring Range Minimum: $119,813

Hiring Range Maximum: $183,050
