Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) seeks an Investigator to join the Ethics & Compliance organization. The Investigator is responsible for performing routine to highly complex investigations into ethics, compliance, conflict of interest, fraud, or misconduct concerns that support H2C's commitment to integrity and transparency. This role conducts thorough fact finding, performs interviews, reviews documentation, and develops objective, well supported conclusions that help leadership make informed decisions. The Investigator strengthens H2C's Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Program by coordinating cross functional reviews, maintaining strict confidentiality, and supporting enterprise-wide integrity initiatives.


Specific assignments may be in one or more of the following functional areas:

  • Ethics and compliance investigations;
  • Misconduct reviews;
  • Fraud inquiries;
  • Conflict of interest analysis;
  • Case documentation and reporting;
  • Interview coordination; Cross departmental collaboration (HR, Legal, the Employee Concerns Program, and other compliance functions);
  • Program operations support; and
  • Development of E&C related guidance, training, or analytics.


Required Qualifications

Grade 17:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 5 (five) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Grade 18:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 7 (seven) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.


Grade 19:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 9 (nine) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.


Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE); Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP);
  • Investigation and interviewing experience in programs such as Ethics & Compliance, Human Resources or Employee Concerns Program, social work, or law enforcement.
  • A degree in Human Resources, Psychology, social work, business, criminal justice or related field
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, detailed, and objective investigative reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and organize complex information from multiple sources and present findings in a concise, professional manner. This includes calculating detailed data in spreadsheets
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Ability to write reports that clearly articulate facts, evidence, observations, findings, and conclusions.
  • Proficiency in reviewing documents, conducting interviews, and synthesizing information into comprehensive written reports


Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.


Hiring Range Minimum: $99,063

Hiring Range Maximum: $151,038
