What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Scientist position at Hanford Pharmaceuticals?
This position is responsible to independently develop, validate, and write analytical methods for new development and existing products following standard operating procedures. Also, responsible for testing of all new development raw material and pilot lot stability samples. Independently develop and write instrument calibration/qualification methods. Calibrate/qualify and maintain lab instrumentation.
Candidate will advise personnel about new methods, instrument operation and computer analysis of data and assist in troubleshooting and solving problems. Ensure the research and development methods, techniques, testing, etc. comply with government regulations, and company policies and procedures. Ensure test procedures are transferred to appropriate laboratory groups, which includes training and documentation of the technology transfer. Inspect the work of other scientists for compliance. Train personnel in new methods, instrument operation, and computer analysis of data and assist in troubleshooting and solving problems.
Test finished products, raw materials, and drug product components using established methodology. Review paperwork, software-generated results and lab notebooks. Provide appropriate feedback based on procedures as required or requested. Perform investigational testing. Prepare reports to management as required or requested.
Maintain research and development functions, and new development of active ingredients, raw materials, etc. Validate test methods for active ingredients, impurities/degradation products, raw materials, preservatives, and solvents using state-of-the-art techniques. Assist in the creation of new product applications. Perform accelerated and nominal stability testing of new drug products.
Education and Experience: Degree in Chemistry required - BS 8-10 yrs. Exp or MS 6-8 yrs. exp.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities include:
- Knowledge of contemporary laboratory practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and skill in using computer software, to include LabX, LIMS, Empower, spreadsheet and word processing.
- Knowledge and skill in operating various specialized laboratory equipment including HPLC, FTIR, pH, GC, UPLC, LCMS and UV/Vis is preferred.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing company a plus.
- Strong organizational, leadership, teamwork, quality, project management and problem-solving skills are desired.
- Good written and verbal communication skills along with computer skills are needed for this position.
Typical work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with some flexibility in work schedule.
