The Operations Specialist reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Business Operations and plays a vital role in the Hanford Fire Department (HFD) business operations division. This position is responsible for reporting metrics and HFD/HMIS contract deliverables. Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities
The Operations Specialist reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Business Operations and plays a vital role in the Hanford Fire Department (HFD) business operations division. This position is responsible for reporting metrics and HFD/HMIS contract deliverables. Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Acts as the lead for the HFD Support Services Operations Specialist & Management Control System teams.
- Acts as technical consultant on problems and issues concerning safe and efficient operations and maintenance of facility and distribution systems.
- Performs data analysis, facility maintenance coordination, fleet maintenance tracking, and project status reports.
- Develops and implements work management tools while working with cross-functional teams to enhance the performance of maintenance teams and critical equipment.
- In the absence of an Activity Manager, assumes the scope and authority of the position.
- Recommends policy changes and develops implementation plans, as necessary.
- Acts as the management representative while coordinating oversight of field work activities.
- Delivers formal presentations to management.
- Provides field support for facility/system modifications.
- Initiates permits and work requests, identifies adverse cost/schedule trends, monitors progress, and writes letters of instruction in support of design and construction activities.
- Develops and prepares metrics and analysis statements as well as supporting documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or other related field, plus five years of related work experience -OR- an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to create and utilize spreadsheets, metrics, and digital presentations.
- Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.
- Experience on large government and/or industrial complexes, federal contracts, or the United States military is desired, but not required for consideration.
