Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain lathes, milling machine, hoists, grinders, welders, torches, and the overall housekeeping of the machine shop.
- Make calculations and perform roll crowning and nip impressions with accuracy, as any compromise in the shape can lead to more issues or no crown at all in a roll.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and perform the required math.
- Maintain accurate records of roll inventory, repair and resurface rolls as needed.
- Support and follow all safety protocols and company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Technical degree or vocational training preferred.
- 2 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, interpret prints, and follow detailed instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
