What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Hands of Heartland?
Hands of Heartland is looking for compassionate and caring individuals to join our team and provide support to the individuals we support as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Caregiver in Norfolk, NE.
What You’ll Do: Work directly with individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings to ensure they have a meaningful life. As a DSP you will assist individuals with day to day living activities and developing skills in a home environment and in community settings.
Hours:
- Full-time and part-time hours available.
- Days, Evenings, Overnights, and weekends, if needed. If weekends are needed it is an every other weekend rotation.
- We are also in need of PRN weekends.
Skillset Needed for the Job: Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals. Understand the importance of documentation.

Requirements: Must be 18 years old. Must be able to pass all background checks. Must have a valid driver’s license. Experience not required – we will train you!
Pay: $16.50 to $18 an hour. We pay more for experience and if you have a CNA license. Incentives also available. NEW! We now offer for CNAs to earn CEUs while working as a DSP (thanks to the Nebraska CNA bill we helped champion!).
