This opportunity is ideal for individuals or families who believe in connection, care, and community. As an Independent Contractor, you won’t be an employee of Hands In Unity and are not eligible for company benefits, but you will gain the reward of transforming lives including your own.

You help them grow, achieve personal goals, and feel like a valued member of a family.
Hands In Unity is dedicated to providing person-centered services across East Tennessee. Our Family Model program allows individuals to live in a natural home setting where they receive guidance, encouragement, and support tailored to their unique needs, preferences, and dreams.
As a Family Model Provider, you will:
- Build a meaningful relationship by understanding the persons' supported history, preferences, and goals.
- Create a warm, family-like environment that promotes dignity, respect, and independence.
- Support daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal care, and household routines.
- Encourage participation in education, work, and community activities.
- Provide transportation and help coordinate medical, therapeutic, and recreational appointments.
- Foster social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.
- Follow and support the individual’s Person Centered Support Plan.
- Collaborate with care teams and attend meetings to support progress and communication.
Hands In Unity is committed to your success and well-being. We provide:
- Ongoing training, including crisis support and skill-building techniques.

- Regular supervision and check-ins tailored to your needs.
Compensation is based on the level of care required and is provided on a contractual basis.
To become a Family Model Provider, you must:
- Be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- Provide proof of home ownership or a valid lease.
- Have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance.
- Pass background checks, registry checks, and drug screening.
- Complete Tuberculosis(TB) screenings for all household members.
- Meet all pre-employment and credentialing requirements.
