Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Afternoon Closer for our infant and toddler classroom to ensure a smooth transition at the end of each day. In this vital role, you will provide nurturing care, maintain a safe environment, and foster positive relationships with young children and their families. This position is perfect for someone passionate about early childhood education and experienced in caring for infants and toddlers.
Duties
- Supervise children during the late afternoon hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Assist with the transition of children from active play to quiet activities or nap time, following established routines
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's day, behavior, and any concerns or updates
- Clean and sanitize toys, furniture, and classroom materials to uphold health standards
- Complete daily documentation on children's activities, meals, naps, and any incidents or observations
- Support classroom management by reinforcing positive behavior and social skills among children
- Collaborate with team members to prepare the classroom for the next day’s activities and ensure all safety protocols are followed
Skills
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare or preschool setting
- Knowledge of child development principles specific to early childhood stages
- Certification in first aid, CPR, including pediatric first aid, is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mandated reporting laws and child safety regulations
- Excellent communication skills for parent interactions and team collaboration
- Classroom management skills to promote a calm, organized environment
- Ability to handle caregiving tasks such as diapering, feeding, and supervising active children
- Experience with behavior management strategies suitable for young children.
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining a lively and positive demeanor
