Job Summary
We are seeking a Overhead Crane Technician to join our team in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting overhead crane systems and related industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience in heavy machinery and crane systems. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of overhead cranes across various industrial settings, including manufacturing plants, warehouses, and construction sites. The technician will perform inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance operational safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of overhead crane systems, including hoists, trolleys, and control mechanisms
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues using schematics, OEM manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, alignment, and component replacement
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components as needed for repairs or upgrades
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, sky lifts , or tractor-trailers to assist in material handling during maintenance activities
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools to complete repairs
- Interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot complex electrical systems
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, transmissions, HVAC systems, diesel engines, brake repair, tire service, and vehicle maintenance
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed
- Adhere to all safety protocols during maintenance activities to prevent accidents or injuries
Skills
- Proven experience working with overhead cranes and industrial equipment repair is a bonus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, hydraulics, suspension systems, and transmissions
- Electrical troubleshooting skills including reading schematics and OEM manuals
- Experience with heavy equipment operation such as forklifts or excavators is preferred
- Familiarity with dealership standards or OEM specifications for crane components and farm machinery is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and diesel engine repair is advantageous
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, alignment tools, and vehicle maintenance tools
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
