We’re looking for a skilled Shop Mechanic & Welder to join our team! In this hands-on role, you’ll play a key part in keeping our industrial and construction equipment in top shape through general maintenance, fabrication, and welding. This is an onsite position based at our Jackson, New Jersey facility, perfect for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and making things work smoothly every day.
Handex Consulting & Remediation, LLC (Handex) is a full-service environmental company focused on providing professional environmental consulting, remediation, and sludge dewatering services in the United States. Founded in 1968, we have over 56 years of experience and have no intention of slowing down!
What will be my responsibilities?
- Repair and maintain equipment at our facility and project sites, including pumps, forklifts, drilling equipment, motors, filter presses, generators, and compressors . Experience with heavy equipment is a plus.
- Perform lubrication, welding, and fabrication tasks.
- Schedule maintenance and repair services for equipment sent out for external servicing.
- Report defects and issues to supervisors and document all repair activities and outcomes.
- Maintain the shop in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Stay current with new equipment, technologies, and best practices related to repairs and maintenance.
- Learn and comply with all safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments as needed.
- Represent Handex professionally at all times.
Requirements
Skills needed for success:
- High school diploma, vocational technical diploma, or GED required.
- Auto Mechanic technical degree, diploma, or certification is a big plus!
- 4 years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, whether in industrial, construction, farming, or military settings.
- Skilled in fabricating, welding, cutting, soldering, and brazing various metals.
- Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills who is a team player and enjoys collaborating.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and focused on delivering great customer service.
- Familiarity with computers and MS Office Suite is a helpful bonus.
- Willing to travel occasionally for day trips to client sites within the NJ/PA/DE region.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing is required.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background checks, including physical, drug and alcohol screening, and DMV records.
Salary Range:
$30.00 to $35.00 an hour.
