Named a Best Community for Music Education for 11 Consecutive Years, the Norristown Area School District invites applications for an Elementary General Music Teacher vacancy at Hancock Elementary School. We are seeking an outstanding candidate who will contribute positively to the district and music department.
The successful candidate will be someone who is able to commit fully to working creatively with students while at the same time, work collaboratively to grow with the Hancock and Norristown Community. This position requires an organized and self-motivated educator who has interest and expertise in building community through music opportunities. (Interested applicants must have a PA Certification in Music Education K-12.)

Qualifications:
PA Certification in Music Education K-12
Bachelor's Degree
Experience directing youth ensembles
The ability to read music
Play piano and/or guitar is preferred
FBI, Criminal Background and Child Abuse clearances
Duties & Job Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements appropriate music instruction in accordance with the district music curriculum, along with national and state music standards, encouraging student participation, fostering a lifelong love of music (Danielson Domain 1&3)
- Utilizes appropriate instructional strategies to effectively address unique students learners and individual student learning differences (Danielson Domain 1)
- Serves as an advocate for students, planning lessons that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students (Danielson Domain 1)
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning with clear expectations and a positive culture of learning (Danielson Domain 2)
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive, and safe classroom environment consistent with district instructional goals (Danielson Domain 2)
- Conducts appropriate assessments of students' work, maintaining accurate data and records (Danielson Domain 3&4)
- Collaborates with staff members, planning instructional goals, objectives, curriculum, and promoting the integration of music throughout the school (Danielson Domain 1)
- Understands the unique needs of the young learner (Danielson Domain 1&3)
- Communicates regularly with parents/guardians and students interacting in a positive and professional manner (Danielson Domain 4)
- Models high levels of musicianship to students and the community through performance and participation with students and staff (Danielson Domain 4)
- Provides opportunities for student musical performances throughout the community (Danielson Domain 4)
- Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance professional practice (Danielson Domain 4)
- Embraces cultural humility and global competence practices and incorporates best practices regularly (Danielson Domain 4)
