Hancock Gourmet is a growing wholesale food company located in Auburn, Maine with a strong foundation in producing high-quality food products. Our business began by preparing ready-to-eat lobster products that were successfully distributed throughout the United States through our direct-to-consumer operation.

As our wholesale and retail business lines continue to expand, we are growing our capabilities to include co-packing services and the production of our own line of kettle soups, sauces, and specialty butters. Position Summary

Food Manufacturing Production Associate will report directly to the team lead of their given department. Depending on the task, this role will work closely with the creation of our products along with the packaging, and preparation for shipment. Ability to cooperate with a team for the common goal and take direction are essential qualities for this position. A strong foundation in reliability will be established previously during the new hire phase. Knowledge of the food manufacturing industry and our product flow is important.

• Able to accurately and reliably keep paperwork necessary to their position
• Other duties as assigned by their supervisor or production manager
• Role may evolve as Hancock Gourmet evolves depending on production lines

Knowledge & Skill Requirement

• Experience in food manufacturing industry preferred
• Excellent attention to detail, communication & time management skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction is essential
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed during busy season
• Basic proficiency in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese is required to complete mandatory training

Physical Requirements

• Lifting Requirement - Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
• Standing Requirement - Prolonged periods standing and walking
• Speed of Work – Employees are expected to be able to move at a fast and consistent pace. This it to meet established production rates for tasks such as packing, grading, cutting, boxing, etc.
• Manual Dexterity Requirement – Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (two arms, or two legs or one leg and one arm) to operate a variety of machinery and equipment
• Repetitive hand use – Required frequent, repetitive hand and finger movements
• Trunk Strength Requirement – Must have ability to use core abdominal and lower back muscles to support the body over time without fatiguing
• Plant Environment - Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical temperature, noises and smells associated with the production plant (reduced temperatures and/or wet production conditions)
• General Discomfort / Ramp-Up Period – New employees may experience temporary discomfort as their bodies adjust to repetitive hand movements, lifting, prolonged standing, and working in cold temperatures
• Work Schedule & Overtime – Employees may occasionally be required to work beyond their scheduled hours until production is completed. Weekend work may also be required based on the production schedule
