SUMMARY:
The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the library’s brand, marketing, and communications strategy. This position designs and produces all graphic materials for the library and ensures a consistent visual identity across print, digital, and social media platforms. The Marketing Manager manages the library’s social media, including content planning, campaign development, audience engagement, and performance analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the Marketing Department in planning, coordinating, and delivering library communications to the community and external audiences, ensuring timely, accurate, and effective promotion of library services, programs, events, and initiatives. Coordinate campaigns, budgets, deadlines, objectives, and schedules.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce the library’s brand identity across print, digital, and social media platforms. Design and produce print and digital marketing materials, including posters, flyers, banners, signage, advertisements, and other promotional pieces.
- Supervise and support the Communications Specialist in the development of written promotional content, ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, and alignment with the library’s brand and goals. Collaborate with departments across the library to assess marketing needs and create engaging visual content that meets quality and brand standards.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the library’s social media strategy. Create, curate, schedule, and manage social media content, including graphics, short-form video, and promotional copy. Monitor social media channels to provide first-line customer service and reputation management.
- Utilize Google Analytics, Customer Lifecycle Management Software, and other tracking methods to analyze and segment customer data effectively. Compile statistics, reports, and documentation related to marketing and program promotion.
- Stay informed about library services, programs, events, and relevant local, cultural, and national trends to create timely and engaging promotional content.
- Attend library events in Greenfield and New Palestine to capture photos and video, provide promotional coverage, and maintain photo release records.
- Perform other functions assigned to the position to ensure effective and smooth continuity of operations and transactions in the best interests of the library.
- Work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and occasional weekends.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Evaluation of staff. Budget and quality control as it relates to promotion and communications. Exercise high judgment and on-brand messaging, particularly in narrow time frames.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises marketing staff, including participation in hiring, training, evaluating, and, if needed, disciplining employees.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:
- Proven experience in marketing, preferably in a cultural or educational setting, with a portfolio of examples.
- Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including public speaking abilities.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, Meta Business Suite, and Social Media Scheduling Software. Preferred experience with Canva Pro.
