Position: Director of Public Library Hancock County, Kentucky
The Hancock County Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking a qualified, community focused individual with strong leadership, managerial and communication skills to serve as the chief executive officer of our library operations. This person will oversee all aspects of the library, including staff management, fiscal operations, budget implementation, strategic planning and outreach to ensure our library remains a vital part of this community.Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the library’s strategic plan.
- Fiscal Management: Prepare, present and oversee the annual operating budget in compliance with Kentucky laws and regulations.
- Personnel Management: Hire, train and supervise library staff and volunteers, maintaining a positive, supportive work environment, being flexible, accessible and approachable to all staff.
- Community Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain partnerships, existing and new, with local government, agencies, business and industries, and other community organizations.
- Programming and Collections: Work with staff to develop innovative programming for all ages and to develop and oversee diverse collections for the library to offer.
Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree required. KDLA Library Certificate required or completed within five years of employment. Degree in Library Science or Information Technology from an accredited program preferred. Experience: Minimum 3 years of administrative experience, including supervisory experience, preferably in a public library setting.Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and decision making skills. Fiscally responsible in creating and working with budgets, with good attention to detail.We are looking for a person of integrity, with a commitment to ethical behavior and to the core values of the library profession.
