Garden Center/Nursery Sales Associate (Full-Time & Part-Time)

Hana Gardens is hiring for FULL-TIME and PART-TIME sales positions at our retail store in Seaside, California.

We are an independent, full-service nursery & garden supply business serving the Monterey Peninsula since 2008. Horticultural, plant, or gardening experience is not required but would be beneficial. We are committed to training individuals who are serious about learning and growing in this field.

Position Overview:

We are currently looking to hire a Retail Garden Center/Nursery Associate to join our team. The successful candidate is enthusiastic about our products and proficient in assisting customers with their gardening needs, maintaining the store's presentation, and working cohesively with fellow team members to ensure a positive customer experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Customer service and sales
• General nursery maintenance tasks, such as watering, feeding, raking, trimming, spacing crops, and other yardwork
• General retail tasks, such as pricing, stocking, register functions, receiving, pulling customer orders, answering phones, monitoring product availability, and maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment
• Learn about the nursery material and hard good lines we offer
• Participate in staff meetings and education sessions
• Performing other duties and assignments as requested

Work Schedule: We offer a flexible schedule with a general requirement of one weekend day commitment per week during the busy season. No evening shifts!

Education, Prior Work Experience, and Specialized Skills and Knowledge

• Required: HS degree or equivalent
• Preferred: College degree or some educational credits
• Required: Proficient in computer use, and Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Required: Retail math, including calculating sales tax and performing cash drops
• Preferred: Retail experience or other experience in a customer-facing position
• Preferred: Personal or professional experience working in an outdoors environment and/or with motorized equipment

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
