The Business Development Manager will play a vital role in driving strategic growth for Hampton Roads Automation (HRA) by developing and executing innivative marketing strategies, building partnerships and identifying business opportunities. This position is integral to ensuring operatonal excellence and safety compliance, with responsibilities that span safety oversight, incident investigation, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operational Job Analyses (OJAs). The Business Development Manager will also provide hands-on support to the technical team, including stepping in to assist or substitute for Technicians during staffing shortages. The incumbent may offer project estimating and project management oversight as required and carry out additional tasks designated by organizational leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development and Strategic Partnerships:Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand HRA’s reach within the utilities industry.
Develop and implement marketing strategies tailored to the Company’s goals and target audience.
Collaborate with engineering teams and utility leaders to recommend system upgrades and modifications.
Build and foster partnerships with stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and industry organizations and partners.
Safety Oversight and Incident Investigation:
Act as the company’s Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.
Investigate incidents thoroughly to determine root causes and recommend corrections.
Promote a culture of safety within the organization through training and awareness programs.
Identify risk areas and recommends training for staff, may be required to coordinate training.
Procedure and Job Analysis Development:
Develop detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance consistency and quality in operations.
Create Operational Job Analyses (OJAs) to assess task-specific risks and improve safety and efficiency.
Project Estimating/Project Management: Review plans and project specifications to assist with project estimating and timelines.
Oversee project plans and budget, coordinate with internal and external teams to meet project objectives; track progress and report project status.
Technical Team Support:
Assist Technicians with technical operations as needed.
Provide backup support during times of staff shortage to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
o Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and team member development.
