Summary
The Wave Planner is responsible for the efficient management of order inventory and order fulfillment processes within the distribution center. This role involves order management, creating and dispatching work to optimize the picking, packing, and shipping of products, as well as keeping track of relevant department KPI
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Set work into obtainable work groups, re-prioritization when necessary
- Release orders based on pick-up time/date, order size, type and complexity
- Responsible for keeping operations with steady workflow and advising when work is limited
- Update the wave dashboards. Ensure communication with all operational stakeholders with regards to waves
- Troubleshoot/Problem Solve and escalate if there are issues with waves. Coordinate location moves and wave planning issues with DC Ops and Inventory Control Teams
- Notifies operations of all requested changes from customers regarding scheduling, processing and shipping
- Ensures all customer orders are waved and processed in order priority
- Compiles order from customers into waves to release to operations
- Ensures that all orders are completed and reviewed prior to the start of the operations
- Monitors order queue and ensure the balance between replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping
- Monitors each wave and releases in accordance with customer’s Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) required
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Associates Degree (two-year college or technical school) in related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years related experience in WH Distribution or Supply Chain planning
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and material planning (MRP) systems. Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
Advanced knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
Ability to apply basic calculations as related to quantities of product picked

- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in executing wave plans to meet customer demands while optimizing inventory levels
- Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and priorities
- Flexibility to work all shifts, including mandatory overtime
- Must be a self-starter and able to prioritize successfully completing tasks, both short and long-term

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
