We are currently seeking a Planer Supervisor Swing Shift to join our Warrenton Planer Team. This is a hands-on leadership role. This person will be safety orientated, people focused, and goal driven. They also must be approachable and trustworthy. They are responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the swing shift team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to safety, quality, continuous improvement, training, teamwork, and retention of the team. They will work closely as part of the leadership team to promote our common goal to be the Employer of Choice in our community.
Schedule Monday through Thursday. Hours may vary slightly based on needs of the operation.

- Will not compromise safety - personally or for the crew. Will set the example for crew members with regard to safety, will be an advocate for safety, and promote safe work behaviors.
- Set and maintain all safety standards for Sawmill personnel.
- Housekeeping will involve maintaining a clean and orderly work environment in all locations. This includes buildings, grounds, lunchrooms, bathrooms, and rolling stock.
- Will provide relevant and effective safety training for Sawmill personnel.
- Responsible for the quality of products produced by the sawmill swing shift.
- This person must perform visual lumber quality checks. Spot checks will also be required whenever a fellow operator identifies a potential quality problem.
- This person will ensure the maximum value of the raw material is being extracted through using WoodSmart data.
- Will be goal oriented with the quality assurance function and all personnel that assists with that function. Will execute established standards for quality checks, at all stages of production and compare actual results against them.
- Will supervise and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in the production of logs to rough lumber.
- Establish standards for each machine center and compare actual results.
- Works in coordination and cooperation with other departments.
- Implements measures to improve production methods
- Knowledge of maintenance requirements for a sawmill operation
- Involve Human Resource Office in changes affecting personnel
- Train and motivate employees
- Maintain time sheets

- Experience in supervisory or lead responsibilities and/or can demonstrate professional and technical expertise.
- Correctly interpret company policies and procedures, in particular safety policies/procedures.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply the latest technologies.
- Must have the ability to learn the Sawmill manufacturing process, including the operation and troubleshooting of sawmill equipment.
- Must maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects to meet production schedule.
- Ability to resolve problems and follow through with all concerned parties.
- Analyze and resolve work problems and/or assist all teammates in solving work problems.
- Familiarity with dimension sawmill and Sawmill operations.
- Knowledge of optimization systems for a Sawmill.
- Knowledge of quality control concepts and procedures in a modern sawmilling environment.
- Proficient typing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel.
