Responsible for helping to achieve ongoing guest satisfaction and team goals through the maintenance, upkeep and cleanliness of all guest sleeping rooms, guest corridors and public areas. Primary responsibility is to follow the plans under their supervisor’s direction, provide cleaning services in accordance with Health Department, hotel brand standards and their property standards, with the constant goal of exceeding our guests’ expectations. Must possess good communication skills, be responsive to guest / client needs, maintain uniform and behavior standards, and keep work areas, all equipment and guest areas in organized, clean, neat, visually appealing condition.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Complete departmental training within 10 days of hire; other essential training and certification within 30 days of hire.
- Maintain and service housekeeping equipment such as washers, dryers, room carts, vacuums as instructed by supervisor, following health and hotel standards.
- Demonstrates attentiveness and responsiveness to guests needs, insures follow-through and completion.
- Always demonstrates excellent guest and team member relations, with all departments.
- Can meet flexible scheduled hours as required to adjust to changing guests’ demand levels and needs.
- Demonstrates punctuality and excellent attendance in observing their work schedules.
- Learn to assist in other hotel work areas as instructed by supervisor, as within the skill and ability of a room attendant, laundry attendant or house person.
- Report any maintenance needs to ensure that our facilities, furnishings, and equipment are maintained in a “like new” condition.
- Participate in training and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge to become a more productive and effective team member and cross train in other areas as needed.
- To complete all assigned rooms/suites in allotted time while consistently cleaning assigned rooms/suites to the standards of cleanliness for Hilton QA standards.
- Replenish storeroom supplies while maintaining shelf organization in the storerooms.
- Remove trash and dirty linens from rooms/suites plus sweep and vacuum floors.
- Report maintenance problems or complete work repair orders.
- Spot cleaning walls, carpets, light fixtures, etc.
- Rotate linens in storerooms while also maintaining overall cleanliness of the laundry room.
- Remove trash and dirty linens from room attendant carts and re-stock with supplies each shift.
- Clean furniture, elevators, glass, planters, etc., in public areas, such as lobbies, pool and public restrooms.
- Sweep and vacuum floors, hallways and stairwells.
- Report maintenance problems, equipment malfunctions or complete work repair orders.
- Spot clean walls, carpets, light fixtures, etc., and properly storeroom attendant carts at the end of the day.
- Deliver special request items such as cribs, fridges, or roll-away beds to guest rooms.
- Pick up trash from parking lot and garden areas.
- Inspect dirty laundry for stains/tears before washing and drying; identify and treat stains as needed.
- Fold all clean laundry and assist with linen inventory monthly as needed.
- Stock shelves and housekeeping carts with clean folded linen.
- Conduct minor dryer filter maintenance and machine inspections.
- Certain uniform components are issued by the hotel. Hotel issued items should be worn only during hotel shifts. The uniform should be maintained in good condition following proper laundering and care instructions. For safety purposes, non-slip shoes are required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Our hotel’s primary goal is to provide hospitality and exceed guest expectations for levels of service, quality, consistency and attention to detail – all team members are evaluated against this standard. A hotel operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. During your scheduled shift, you may be asked to assist in areas of the hotel outside of your typical work areas.
Qualifications:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired, but not essential.
- Previous related experience strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Work well with other team members and departments
- Read, write and perform simple math calculations.
- Effectively communicate with hotel guests and clients, utilizing courtesy, tact and diplomacy.
- Safely carry or transport equipment and supplies to and from guest areas as needed.
- Follow directions accurately and efficiently.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, carry, talk, and hear. The employee may be required to be on his/her feet for a large portion of the day/shift. Duties may require that the stoop, kneel, or crouch; reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate tools or controls; must be able to lift and /or move heavy objects including tables and cases of supplies; must be able to lift approximately 40-50 pounds overhead.
