The Overnight Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all hotel guests, team members, and visitors. This role requires continuous monitoring of the hotel’s interior and exterior areas, proactive identification of safety concerns, and hands-on support to ensure the property is well-maintained during overnight hours.
This is an active, on-your-feet role for the majority of the shift.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Security Monitoring
- Conduct routine patrols of all interior and exterior areas of the hotel, including parking lots, hallways, stairwells, and common areas
- Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) and report any suspicious activity
- Ensure all exterior doors and access points are secure
- Respond promptly to guest concerns, disturbances, or emergency situations
- Enforce hotel safety policies and procedures
Property Maintenance Support
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of exterior areas, including parking lot and entryways
- Remove trash from exterior receptacles and designated areas
- Identify and report maintenance issues (lighting outages, hazards, damages, etc.)
- Assist with light cleaning duties in public areas as needed during overnight hours
Guest Service & Support
- Provide a visible and approachable presence for guests during overnight hours
- Assist guests with basic requests or directions as needed
- Support front desk operations when necessary (e.g., monitoring lobby, assisting with guest concerns)
Incident Reporting & Documentation
- Accurately document incidents, disturbances, or unusual activity in daily logs
- Communicate effectively with management and incoming shifts regarding any issues
- Follow emergency procedures for fire, medical incidents, or security threats
Qualifications
- Previous security, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong observation and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work overnight shifts consistently
- Basic communication and report-writing skills
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for extended periods (majority of shift)
- Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift light to moderate items (trash bags, supplies, etc.)

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
