Salary range: $60,000 - $120,000 depending on experience
Job Purpose
The Assistant Sales and Purchasing Manager will play a pivotal role in the procurement and market analysis of peanuts and tree nuts for Severn Peanut Co., Portales Select Peanut Co., Hampton Farms, and Ready Roast Nut Company. This position will report to the VP of Sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor shelling positions and projections.
- Prepare various commodity market reports
- Assist in the buying and selling of peanuts and tree nuts.
- Provide input on pricing and costing based on market trends.
- Cultivate partnerships with strategic suppliers.
- Travel to visit customers and suppliers, including attending PTNPA, Peanut Congress, and APSA meetings.
- Participate in team projects and committees.
- Review and approve commodity purchase orders and invoices for multiple divisions within the company.
- Maintain purchase contract balances.
- Support the sales and marketing team by providing market information and making recommendations to identify opportunities.
- Assist the sales and marketing team with cost review and provide recommendations on pricing strategy.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in sales, supply chain, or related field
- Interest in market dynamics coupled with business acumen.
- Strong negotiation and networking skills.
- Ability to gather and analyze data effectively.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft 365.

- Requires the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with managers, direct reports and colleagues.
