Animal Shelter Attendant Job Description
We are looking for a caring and dedicated employee to join our team. The responsibilities of the role include taking care of animals’ basic needs, facilitating adoptions, maintaining cleanliness of shelter, and assisting in the medical care of animals. The shelter attendant will also be responsible for keeping and updating electronic and paper records as well as taking photographs of all the animals in our facility. The attendant will occasionally have to handle aggressive or agitated animals and assist in humane euthanasia. Our ideal candidate is an animal lover with a deep passion for their well-being, has excellent interpersonal skills, and can handle physical and emotional tasks.
Responsibilities/Duties: ? Feed, socialize, and exercise animals ? Clean and sanitize animal enclosures ? Monitor animal behavior and report any changes ? Administer medication to animals under the direction of the manager/director ? Provide customer service to the public and answer inquiries about our procedures and policies ? Maintaining records of animal care, condition, and progress ? Posting available animals on various sites to promote adoptions ? Assist in the adoption process by providing potential adopters with information about specific animals
Qualifications
Qualifications: Experience working with animals is preferred (not required) High school diploma or equivalent Strong communication and customer service skills Physical ability to handle, lift, and restrain animals Willingness to learn and follow shelter procedures Ability to work weekends and some holidays as required
