Hampden-Sydney College is accepting applications for a Police Officer for midnight shift (6pm-6am) to include holidays and overtime as required. Reporting to the Director of Public Safety, Police Officer (Officer) is responsible for supporting the mission of the College by providing protection for students, staff, faculty, visitors and property from fire, unsafe conditions and criminal or dangerous acts of individuals or groups, and preserving life and minimizing injury by providing emergency medical care. As a security officer with full police powers recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a law enforcement officer, Officer enforces the laws of the Commonwealth and policies of Hampden-Sydney College.
Qualifications:Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, a valid VA driver’s license, 1 year of previous police experience, and successful completion of Basic Law Enforcement Officer’s Course from an accredited Virginia DCJS Academy (or the ability to obtain such completion) are required. Must have the ability to effectively function in a College community. Computer skills required. Employment contingent on successful completion of background check.
