Position Overview
The logistics supervisor is responsible to ensure that all logistics work and activities are completed in a safe and productive manner, implementing Continuous Improvement measures to reach company goals, and to meet the expectations of all customers, both internal and external. Additionally, the supervisor coaches and encourages individuals to perform to the best of their ability, while striving for team success.
The logistics supervisor and the staff (i.e. all the hourly plant production laborers excluding maintenance, QA and shipping staff) are responsible for meeting the following company production targets: ship-on-time, efficiency, cost of quality, and health & safety.
The responsibilities include staff supervision, discipline, performance evaluations, facilitating communication, meetings, and leading special projects. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision
- Oversee all logistics hourly employees to ensure logistics schedules are met and company targets are achieved in areas such as on-time shipping, efficiency, quality, health and safety, and housekeeping (including 5S).
- Ensure the health & safety of all employees.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations of hourly staff.
- Conduct and ensure proper training is provided to employees.
- Communicate and coordinate production with other shifts.
- Ensure machines and equipment are safe and report any equipment issues to maintenance.
- Ensure employees are following safety procedures and wearing proper PPE.
- Monitor and control attendance, conduct, and attitude.
- Provide feedback, support & guidance to employees.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, as well as health and safety guidelines.
- Meet with employees who are not performing at expected levels or whom are in violation of safety rules, quality standards, poor efficiency, behavior, attendance, conflicts.
- Conduct verbal warnings and administer written warnings or suspensions
- Communicate and explain necessary corrective actions to employee.
- Effectively monitors levels of materials in production floor in coordination with warehouse supervisor to ensure a continuous flow of production.
- Coordinate or lead continuous cost savings and improvement projects.
- Encourage and support employees to bring forward ideas and concerns.
- Encourage employee involvement in continuous improvement and H&S projects.
- Ensure sufficient and appropriate training is provided for all employees to perform their jobs properly, safely, and efficiently.
- Provide coaching as needed.
- Provide new employee training reviews with team leaders and training coordinator.
- Forward recommendations for new or additional training to the training coordinator.
- Encourage and support employees to bring forward ideas and concerns.
- Keep employees informed of status to metrics.
- Coordinate and ensure that daily team lead "stand-up" meetings are held effectively.
- Provide effective communication between shifts, supervisors, team leaders, and plant manager.
- Communicate and report production issues and workers concern to HR and plant managers.
- Attend management team meetings and report back on key discussions and outcomes.
- Associate’s degree in manufacturing or equivalent experience
- 6 years as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience
- Interpersonal skills, including conflict resolutions, leadership & supervision
- Computer skills – MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook (Min. at an intermediate level)
- Knowledge of plant equipment and processes
- Knowledge of Healthy and Safety regulations and the law
- Knowledge of Key Safety Protocols, Lockout/Tag out, Personal Protective Equipment
- Knowledge of employment of laws and regulations
