What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Construction Project Manager position at Hammond Construction Services?
About the Role
We are a growing residential and commercial contractor seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to lead our commercial division. You will be the primary point of contact for our commercial clients, overseeing projects from the initial hand-off through final closeout. From retail build-outs to professional office rennovations, you’ll ensure every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to our high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Manage all phases of commercial construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Subcontractor Management: Source, vet, and manage independent contractors and specialty trades to ensure high-quality execution.
- Budget & Finance: Maintain strict project cost controls, manage change orders, and provide accurate financial forecasting.
- Site Safety & Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to NC building codes, OSHA safety regulations, and local municipalities permitting requirements.
- Client Relations: Act as the face of the company for developers and business owners, providing regular updates and solutions-oriented communication.
- Documentation: Utilize project management software to track daily logs, RFIs, submittals, and project milestones.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years of experience in construction project management, with a specific focus on commercial sectors (e.g., TI, retail, office, or light industrial).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Eastern NC construction market and regional building codes is highly preferred.
- Communication: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to lead diverse teams of subcontractors.
- Positive Contributors: Team players who work well with others and can step in to help the team accomplish common goals. A positive attitude is a must so that candidate can be a problem solver rather than issue creator.
