What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Technician position at Hammond Animal Hospital?
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team. Day, night, and weekend shifts available! The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and a desire to provide excellent care for our furry friends. Dependability and self-motivated are a must! Must be available to work evenings, holidays and weekends.
Duties
- Assist in the daily care and well-being of animals in the kennel
- Perform cleaning duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
- Feed and provide water to animals according to schedules
- Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to the supervisor
- Assist with exercising and socializing animals
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Provide basic grooming services such as bathing and brushing
Qualifications
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
- Experience with animal restraint and handling
- Knowledge of pet care practices and basic animal behavior
- Previous experience working in a kennel or veterinary setting is a plus
- Customer service skills for interacting with pet owners
