What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Barber position at Hammer and Nails Grooming Shop for Guys?
Job Title: Licensed Barber | Hammer & Nails Chamblee
Location: Chamblee, GA | Pay: Up to $60,000/year or more for full-time artists (base commission tips) | Full-Time / Part-Time
Build a Career, Not Just a Book
Hammer & Nails Chamblee isn't a one-shop operation hoping to make it. We're building a company. Chamblee is open and thriving, our second location opens in Alpharetta in early 2026, and we're building toward 3-5 shops in the years ahead.
That matters if you're a barber. Our entire leadership team has grown from within, we don't hire management from outside when we can promote the people who already prove themselves on our floor. One of our full-time artists started here as a newly licensed barber in February. Within months, building his book and his skill inside our system, he grew his earnings to a pace of up to $60,000 a year or more. That's not the exception here. That's the path we build for artists who commit to the standard.
This Is a Grooming Lounge, and a Serious Barbershop
Hammer & Nails is built around men's luxury self-care, not a quick chair turn. Our members come for a full experience: precision haircuts and shear work alongside hand and foot services, face and scalp treatments, and a full in-house bar. It's an environment closer to a high-end spa than a traditional shop.
Don't mistake the environment for softness. Our artists still do the hardest fades, the sharpest line-ups, and the most technical detail work in the market, just inside a five-star setting instead of a strip-mall chair. We hold every artist to that dual standard: real craft, real polish.
Be The Standard
We hold every artist to the Golden Standard: the same precision, the same care, on visit fifty as visit one. That's not a slogan on the wall. It's how we built a membership base that's already outpacing the H&N system average for new locations. Members trust their barber here. That trust is the business.
This shop runs on structure, not chaos. You'll be coached, evaluated, and developed by leaders who came up the same way you will. If you want total autonomy and no accountability, this isn't your shop. If you want to sharpen your craft inside a team that has your back and a system that keeps your chair full, keep reading.
What We Need From You
- A licensed Georgia barber, equally sharp with shears and clippers: confident and consistent in men's haircuts, fades, line-ups, scissor cuts, beard grooming, and straight razor work
- Someone who treats the Golden Standard as a floor, not a ceiling: precision every time, not just on a good day
- A professional presence that matches a luxury environment: polished, attentive, and mindful that you represent the brand on the floor
- Coachable. We invest in artists who want to grow; we can't do much for artists who already have it all figured out
- A team player who works with our concierge/front desk to protect and build your book. This is a retention business, not a walk-in shop
- Reliable and punctual. Members book you specifically. Showing up is the job.
- Evening and weekend availability
What You'll Actually Do
- Deliver haircuts (clipper and shear), beard work, razor services, and premium grooming per the Golden Standard
- Build real relationships with members you'll see for years, not once
- Keep your station organized, sanitation-compliant, and presented to a luxury standard
- Partner with the front desk to pre-book and grow your book
- Show up as part of a team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time artists: up to $60,000/year or more, base, commission, and tips combined. Part-time pay scales accordingly with hours and production.
- 100% of tips, yours, full stop
- Health benefit and paid time off
- W2 employment. No booth rent, no guessing what you'll take home
- All tools, equipment, and products provided
- Consistent booking volume from an established, growing membership base
- Paid training and ongoing skill development
- On-site leadership, made up of people who started in the same chair you're applying for
The Membership Advantage: Why This Chair Is Different
Most barbers spend half their energy marketing themselves: posting content, chasing walk-ins, hoping today's client rebooks. Here, that's not your job. Our members already joined, already committed, and already have a standing relationship with the shop before they ever sit in your chair. You don't have to hustle for business. You have to be excellent at the work in front of you.
That's the trade we're offering: you bring the skill and the consistency, and our membership base brings the volume. No cold chair, no dead afternoons hoping someone walks in. Just a full book, built on a system, so you can focus entirely on the craft.
Why Hammer & Nails Chamblee
We built this as a membership business on purpose, because a full chair shouldn't depend on luck, or on you chasing walk-ins. That structure is why members keep coming back, and why our artists can count on their income instead of hoping for it. And because we're growing, and promote from within, joining now means growing with us.
Total. Man. Care. That's the standard, on both sides of the chair.
