Title: Part-Time Special Education ESP
Reports to: Building Principal
Location: Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School
Position Overview
The ESP works with students with disabilities who require additional academic assistance in mathematics. The ESP collaborates with special educators and general educators to ensure that students receive appropriate instruction and support aligned with the high school curriculum and their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This is an hourly position, up to six hours per week.
Responsibilities
Provide small-group or individual math support to students with disabilities, as directed by the principal and special education staff.
Reinforce math instruction delivered by certified teachers, using strategies aligned with student IEP goals and accommodations.
Assist students with skill development, organization, task completion, and self-advocacy.
Collect data on student progress and provide feedback to special educators, school counselors, and the principal.
Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans as directed.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and personal information.
Collaborate effectively with educators and families as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher(s), building administrator, or Director of Student Services.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Ability to assist students in math at the high school level.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
Commitment to supporting an inclusive learning environment.
Familiarity with math instructional strategies and/or special education supports.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to follow instructional plans and implement accommodations.
Patience, flexibility, and the ability to build positive student relationships.
Willingness to learn and implement new strategies.
Ability to maintain accurate records and progress data.
Awareness of confidentiality laws and FERPA requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed in a classroom or school setting.
Ability to support students in transitioning throughout the school building.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs., and assist students physically as needed.
