Summary of Position:
Welcome guests in a warm and meaningful manner. Serve water upon their arrival, followed by serving bread, butter, and explaining the product. Provide water refills as needed throughout the guest's experience. Remove plates, glassware, and anything not needed between courses. Promptly clear tables after guests leave and reset them for the next table waiting. Assist the service staff with additional needs of the guests as they arise. Meanwhile, run food as food runners are called from the kitchen. Deliver food while reading the ticket ensuring the guest is receiving exactly what the server ordered. Assist in the bar area cleaning and polishing glassware.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring bread, butter and water to table.
- Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.
- Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dishroom and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.
- Between seating's promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths. Check floor and clean as needed. Reset and arrange tabletop.
- Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.
- Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.
- Assist with food delivery from the kitchen. Be available whenever a food runner is required to ensure hot food is delivered promptly.
- Thank guests as they are leaving.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
- Additional responsibilities will be required on a need to know basis.
Qualifications:
- Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Be available during UIUC mega weekends and during summer.
