- New Jersey Instructional Certificate - School Media Specialist (or equivalent degree)
- Knowledge of best practices as outlined by the American Library Association (ALA) and NJ Association of School Librarians (NJASL)
- Knowledge of NJ Student Learning Standards for English Language Arts (9-12) and National School Library Standards
- Ability to organize, catalogue, and classify physical and digital library collection
