We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our legal team. This full-time position will support multiple attorneys in bankruptcy and state court litigation matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 proceedings and related matters.
While prior bankruptcy experience is not required, we value candidates who are intuitive, eager to learn, and committed to producing high-quality work. The ideal candidate will have 1 years of prior paralegal experience, exceptional organizational and communication skills, be a self-starter, and be team focused. Responsibilities:
- Assist with court filings including electronic filings in State Court and Federal Court
- Manage case dockets, calendars, and deadlines for multiple bankruptcy proceedings
- Coordinate and assist with preparation for §341 meetings, hearings, and court filings
- Prepare and file petitions, schedules, statements, motions, and other documents with bankruptcy courts
- Assist attorneys with drafting/preparing pleadings and discovery documents
- Assist with preparation of exhibits, creditor matrices, proof of claims, and service lists
- Monitor dockets and electronic court notices (e.g., via PACER, ECF)
- Draft correspondence and assist with client communications
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files throughout the lifecycle of a matter
- Hearing preparation, including electronic presentations, and management of hearing exhibits
- Track and record time using legal billing software in accordance with client and firm requirements
Qualifications:
- 1 years of experience as a paralegal (bankruptcy experience a plus)
- The successful candidate will possess strong technological proficiency, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel), and demonstrated experience with legal time and billing systems.
- Experience with Best Case, ECF, and PACER is a plus
- Ability to operate autonomously
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
Charlotte, NC (in-person required). While this position will begin on-site, there is potential for a hybrid remote schedule after an initial onboarding and training period, based on performance and business needs.
