Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, dependable, and detail-oriented Front Desk Medical Office Receptionist/Insurance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical insurance processes, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced medical office environment. This position requires exceptional multitasking abilities, professionalism, and the capability to work independently while providing outstanding patient care.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival.
- Update and maintain accurate patient demographic information.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances.
- Process and post patient payments accurately.
- Balance daily cashiering reports and reconcile collections.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and process payments over the phone.
- Take and relay messages to nursing staff and providers as needed.
- Submit and process outgoing insurance claims.
- Review, investigate, and work claim denials for correction and reprocessing.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting required.
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance verification, claims processing, and denial management.
- Experience with patient collections, payment posting, and cashier balancing.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with medical billing and coding processes.
- Familiarity with multiple insurance carriers and payer guidelines.
- Prior experience working in a specialty or primary care practice.
