- Chairside Assistance: Support dental providers during procedures by preparing instruments, passing materials, taking digital X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Infection Control: Maintain strict adherence to sterilization and disinfection protocols, following Hamilton’s Infection Control Policy to ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Patient Support: Prepare patients for treatment, collect health histories, and provide pre- and post-operative instructions to promote understanding and compliance.
- Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic dental records, including treatment notes, radiographs, consent forms, and referrals.
- Laboratory & Impressions: Take preliminary impressions, pour models, and prepare lab cases with proper documentation.
- Supply Management: Order and restock dental supplies, ensuring operatories remain clean, organized, and fully equipped.
- Administrative & Team Support: Assist with scheduling coordination, departmental meetings, staff training, and cross-location coverage as needed.
- Expanded Function (if applicable): EFDAs perform duties consistent with Pennsylvania State Law relating to the EFDA scope of practice.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
- Certification: DANB certification for radiographs required (or must obtain within 4 months of hire); CPR certification required (or must obtain within 4 months).
- Experience: One year of chairside dental assisting experience preferred; foundational knowledge expected.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, organization, and teamwork abilities, with a professional and patient-focused demeanor.
- Compliance: Must pass background checks, including child abuse clearance, and be able to work in a community-based and/or school-based clinical environment.
