Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Surgery Center Administrator to lead the operational and administrative functions of a busy outpatient endoscopy facility. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader with a passion for healthcare management, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care. As the Surgery Center Administrator, you will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, manage staff, and optimize financial performance to support the center's mission of providing safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical services.

Duties

  • Lead the overall management of the surgery center, including clinical operations, administrative functions, and patient experience.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote compliance with JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversee fiscal management activities such as budgeting, financial reporting, billing processes, and cost control measures to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Supervise medical office staff, including nurses, administrative personnel, and technical staff; foster a collaborative team environment focused on excellence in patient care.
  • Manage medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility.
  • Coordinate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to schedule procedures efficiently while maintaining optimal patient flow.
  • Oversee human resources functions including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and staff development initiatives.
  • Monitor clinic operations to improve efficiency, patient satisfaction, and safety standards; implement quality improvement initiatives regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with managed care contracts and billing practices; oversee coding accuracy using systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for dental-related procedures when applicable.
  • Maintain inventory control for surgical supplies and equipment; oversee vendor relationships for procurement needs.
  • Handle patient complaints or concerns promptly to uphold the center's reputation for exceptional service.
  • Stay current on healthcare regulations related to outpatient surgery centers and adapt policies accordingly.

Skills

  • Proven experience in medical office management or healthcare administration within surgical or outpatient settings.
  • Strong fiscal management skills including budgeting, financial analysis, and cost containment strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft; ability to utilize these tools effectively for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Supervisory experience managing multidisciplinary teams in clinical environments.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, HIPAA compliance standards, and regulatory requirements such as JCAHO accreditation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with staff members, physicians, vendors, patients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and patient safety.
  • Knowledge of practice management software solutions tailored for outpatient surgery centers or clinics.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial management, billing processes including managed care contracts.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare laws related to outpatient surgical facilities including OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
