Job Description: Position Summary: The Head of Collection Strategies advises, consults, and partners with the Director of Resource and Digital Strategies while leading Collection Development and Acquisitions, Cataloging, Electronic Resources, and Periodicals staff. The incumbent will be part of a leadership team focused on continually enhancing Hamilton Library’s resources to align with the needs of the college and the curriculum. Working collaboratively with faculty members and liaison librarians, this position ensures that collections meet curricular needs within available resources. The position establishes and maintains mature and efficient technical services workflows in acquisitions and cataloging. Responsibilities: Oversees all aspects of collection development, acquisitions, and cataloging for the Hamilton Library Monitors and manages the library’s collection development funds to ensure their timely and appropriate expenditure Partnering with the Head of Digital Strategies, analyzes collections, budgets and other data to develop strategies and inform decision-making for collection management activities that align with the college’s priorities Creates outstanding collaborations with liaison librarians and faculty to enhance and shape collections Supervises library staff in acquisitions, cataloging, electronic resources, serials, and processing Establishes and maintains mature and efficient technical services workflows for acquisitions and cataloging Prepares and presents information to help inform collection decisions Develops and maintains relationships with vendor contacts and library consortia, and partners with college procurement and the Director of Resource and Digital Strategies on contract negotiations and renewals Represents the library on committees and ad-hoc groups related to collections initiatives.
