We are hiring for an OSP Field Engineer in Texas.
The OSP Field Engineer will perform field verification and validation for planned Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Multi-dwelling Units (MDUs), and/or small-medium business (SMB) OSP distribution, middle mile routes and planned active OLT cabinet locations. Primary duties include physical ride out design review of planned routes and cabinet locations to determine constructability conditions.
Responsibilities
- Field verification of OSP system design for new markets, new developments, and expansion of FTTH/MDU/SMB fiber infrastructure.
- Performs field visits to verify planned routes and locations to gather route and right-of- away data.
- Performs preliminary underground and aerial plant engineering, including make ready and pole loading assessments.
- Identifies jurisdiction for relative permits related to ROW, Railroad, and DOTs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department
Required Skills
- Associate STEM degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Outside Plant Engineering Design, Construction management, or OSP Field Inspector.
- Reliable transportation to complete field work.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing, as well as give effective presentations to Supervisors and Managers. Additionally, able to constructively escalate problems and issues.
