Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Dump Truck Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will operate heavy-duty dump trucks to transport construction materials, debris, and other cargo efficiently across various job sites and routes. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, adherence to safety regulations, and ability to handle diverse cargo types will ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries. Responsibilities
- Operate dump trucks safely and efficiently on over-the-road (OTR) routes, construction sites, and designated delivery locations.
- Load and unload materials using manual handling techniques or truck-mounted equipment, ensuring proper cargo securing in compliance with safety standards.
- Navigate using GPS systems to reach destinations accurately and on schedule, adjusting routes as necessary for traffic or road conditions.
- Transport a variety of freight including hazardous materials (hazmat), refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized cargo while adhering to all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo weight, delivery times, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before operating the truck.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site managers, and clients to coordinate deliveries and resolve any logistical issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tractor-trailer operation and hazardous materials handling if applicable.
- Proven experience in truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation, especially with dump trucks or similar heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to commercial truck driving.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Ability to load/unload freight safely while complying with logistics cargo handling procedures.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures for various cargo types such as dangerous goods or tanker loads.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; familiarity with flatbed or tanker trucks is a plus.
- Physical stamina for manual handling tasks and long hours on the road; good communication skills for effective coordination.
