Hamden Rehabilitation and Health Care in Hamden, CT is seeking an experienced Per Diem Maintenance Assistant to join our team!
Hamden Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is a 153-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility situated in Hamden, Connecticut. We specialize in short- and long-term care and have a secure memory care unit. We are located right in the heart of New Haven County, in close proximity to Yale New Haven Hospitals, yet conveniently only seconds from route 10, which runs throughout New Haven County.
Hours needed will be from 10am-6pm.

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of the skilled nursing facility and its equipment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position supports compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing long-term care facilities, including life safety and infection control standards.
Responsibilities Include:
· Assists the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the physical plant as a safe, sanitary and secure environment.
Duties include:
- Perform basic carpentry work in conjunction with physical plant repairs
- Conduct daily rounds to identify maintenance needs and ensure facility safety.
- Respond promptly to maintenance service requests and work orders.
- Assist in moving furniture, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility.
- Participate in safety inspections and assist with corrective actions.
- Support facility staff and departments with minor repairs or set-up needs for activities or events.
- Perform tasks related to general carpentry
- Perform basic plumbing and electrical tasks, as needed
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to fill voids and cracks in accordance with NFPA Standards and State of Connecticut regulations
- Must have a professional and great attitude
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Applicant must be able to work unsupervised with good communication and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to demonstrate a commitment to customer service with excellence in all interactions with clients and our clinical team.
- Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
