Role Description
The Accounting Manager/General Manager supports the CFO/COO in managing the company’s accounting processes, financial reporting, and ERP system operations. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with system management and cross-departmental operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive — ensuring accurate financial data while improving workflow efficiency across accounting and operations.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Review and verify journal entries for A/P Invoice Verifications, Receipt-to-Stock Entries, and A/R Batch Receipt Entries.
- Review and post A/P invoice entries, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and coordinate with the tax accountant for reporting needs.
- Maintain capital asset schedules and record journal entries for fixed asset purchases.
- Prepare and issue monthly financial statements and assist with year-end reporting.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy through account analysis and reconciliation.
- Reconcile A/P pre-invoice inventory, freight, prepaid accounts, and other related items.
- File reports and handle communications for insurance claims and documentation.
- Perform month-end and year-end journal entries as part of the close process.
Operations Support
- Provide monthly support for warehouse inventory physical counts, ensuring accurate reporting and costing.
- Execute peripheral equipment orders and reconcile billings.
- Assist in payroll processing, ADP InTouch DX device troubleshoots and time sheet corrections (e.g., missed punches), and manual check issuance.
- Support cross-department collaboration to ensure financial accuracy and workflow consistencies.
ERP & Systems Management
- Serve as a key user and Champion of the ERP System, assisting with setup, testing, and improvements.
- Revamp and maintain Fish Department barcoding and product codes for accurate tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT and management to create and update Crystal Reports for operational and financial needs.
- Support ongoing process improvement and data accuracy within the ERP system.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing or distribution industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Champion ERP preferred) and report development tools (e.g., Crystal Reports).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.
