The Sales Trainer is responsible for designing and delivering training programs to improve sales performance across the promotional products business. This role equips sales teams with the product knowledge, sales skills, and tools needed to drive revenue. The ideal candidate has strong industry experience and understands supplier–distributor dynamics, decoration methods, and branded merchandise programs.

  • Must be willing to travel 25% of the year.*

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver comprehensive onboarding programs for new sales hires, including company orientation, promotional product fundamentals, supplier network education, sales processes, and technology systems.
  • Develop and facilitate ongoing training modules covering prospecting, consultative selling, solution development, client presentation skills, and closing strategies.
  • Create performance-based coaching plans tailored to individual and team development needs.
  • Deliver engaging training sessions across multiple formats, including in-person, virtual, and on-demand learning environments.
  • Train sales teams on product categories, decoration techniques (e.g., screen printing, embroidery, laser engraving, heat transfer), fulfillment options, and compliance considerations.
  • Educate teams on supplier relationships, pricing and margin strategies, inventory dynamics, and emerging industry trends.
  • Develop training focused on branded merchandise programs, including kitting, company stores, e-commerce solutions, and enterprise-level initiatives.
  • Reinforce sales methodologies and pipeline stages, including lead qualification, opportunity development, quoting, and deal management.
  • Train sales teams on CRM systems, quoting tools, program management platforms, and workflow technologies used throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Partner with Sales Operations to drive process adoption, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Measure training effectiveness through assessments, certification programs, and performance analytics.
  • Monitor key sales metrics (e.g., pipeline generation, conversion rates, average order value) to identify skill gaps and training opportunities.
  • Provide actionable insights and feedback to sales leadership on development priorities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supplier Relations, Merchandising, and Operations teams to incorporate new products, launches, and capabilities into training programs.
  • Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to support onboarding and ongoing development initiatives.
  • Align training strategies with executive leadership priorities and overall revenue objectives.

Requirements

  • 3 years in sales training, enablement, or coaching
  • Experience in the promotional products industry (supplier or distributor)
  • Strong knowledge of branded merchandise and decoration methods
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience delivering both in-person and virtual training
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and proactive problem-solver with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred

  • LMS and digital learning experience
  • Prior sales experience
  • CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
  • Training certifications (e.g., ATD, CPTD)

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $105,000 annually. Please note that this pay range serves as a general guideline and reflects a broad spectrum of labor markets across the US. While it is uncommon for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range, compensation decisions are influenced by various factors. At HALO, these include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, location, education and training, key skills, internal equity, external market data, and broader market and business considerations.
