Collections Clerk

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and identify delinquent accounts
• Contact customers via phone, email, and mail to follow up on past-due invoices
• Negotiate payment arrangements in accordance with company policies
• Record and track collection activities in the accounting system
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies or billing disputes
• Collaborate with the billing, customer service, and sales teams to address account issues
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications and actions taken
• Escalate unresolved accounts to management when necessary
• Prepare regular collection reports and analysis for management review
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and confidentiality standards
• Cross-train in team roles to support daily operations as needed
• Complete other related duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1–3 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related finance role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Customer service mindset with ability to handle difficult conversations professionally
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience working in a high-volume collection’s environment
• Familiarity with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other relevant regulations
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Dynamics NAV)

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting rate $21.00 - $23.00 per hour based on experience
