Duties
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Assist with medication setup, including preparing doses for oral, topical, injectable, or tube feeding administration.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for adverse reactions or changes in condition, reporting findings promptly to nursing staff.
- Maintain precise medical documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring all records are current and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Support residents with activities of daily living related to medication management and personal care, including catheter care and other specialized needs.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff and healthcare providers to coordinate medication schedules and ensure seamless patient care delivery.
- Follow infection control procedures diligently during medication administration and medical procedures in compliance with healthcare standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic nursing practices essential for accurate medication administration.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or those requiring dementia or Alzheimer’s care enhances your ability to provide compassionate support.
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs.
- Great communication skills.
