Position Overview

HWM is seeking a motivated Litigation Attorney to join its creditor’s rights practice and handle contested matters. The attorney will work on litigation arising from lending, real property, and other creditor-rights matters, with opportunities to develop hands-on experience in state and federal courts.

This position is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious attorney who wants to become a strong litigator while building substantive experience in the financial-services and creditor-rights industry. Prior creditor-rights experience is not required.

HWM provides hands-on training, accessible mentorship from experienced attorneys, and increasing responsibility as skills develop. The goal is to give the successful candidate meaningful experience—drafting motions, developing litigation strategy, handling discovery, negotiating with opposing counsel, and appearing in court—while providing the guidance and support needed to grow into a confident and effective litigator.

The attorney will have the opportunity to:

· Handle contested creditor’s rights matters from initial dispute through resolution, with appropriate supervision and mentorship.

· Draft and argue motions, oppositions, briefs, and other litigation pleadings.

· Conduct legal research and develop practical litigation strategies for lender and creditor clients.

· Manage written discovery, document production, and other pretrial matters.

· Participate in and, as experience develops, take and defend depositions.

· Appear at court hearings, mediations, conferences, and trials.

· Analyze loan documents, security instruments, title and collateral issues, and borrower claims and defenses.

· Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties regarding case strategy and resolution.

· Negotiate settlements and other practical resolutions when appropriate.

· Develop increasing responsibility for a litigation caseload as experience and confidence grow.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
