Assistant Superintendent
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting in leading and supervising the Golf Course Maintenance and Grounds teams in all aspects related to the golf course and grounds keeping.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the planning and supervising for all aspects of the golf course and grounds.
- Assist with the scheduling, training, and supervision of all employees in the maintenance of the golf course and grounds.
- Assists in the planning and implements all fertilizer and pesticide applications including calibration.
- Responsible for ensuring stock plant protectants and fertilizer inventories are supplied.
- Assist with the repair, maintenance, and scheduling of the irrigation system.
- Ensures all club policies are followed, disciplines employees as needed.
- Ensures a safe work environment including implementing procedures and policies as needed.
- Assists in prioritizing and directing crew’s daily activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of equipment used in department as well as the care and maintenance of landscape plants.
- Responsible for performing all required recordkeeping duties associated with pesticide/fertilizer applications and assists in recording the irrigation system, weather and rainfall data.
- Acting assistant in their absence.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two-year degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agricultural Science or similar program from accredited University or Community College.
- Ability to obtain a Kansas Pesticide Applicator license within 6 months of employmet
- Previous experience as an assistant superintendent preferred.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office preferred
- Comprehension of basic Spanish a plus
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, early mornings and varied shifts
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Able to lift 50 lbs regularly
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to walk frequently; must be able to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and use controls, tools, and general equipment.
- This position may require an individual to work holidays and weekends.
