Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our public accounting firm based in New Richmond WI. In this vital role, you will be completing various accounting and tax functions for our business clients and assist with individual and business tax returns. This position will allow the right candidate to use the skills they learned while obtaining their associates or bachelor’s degree. Duties
- Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and adherence to accounting standards for our clients
- Perform bookkeeping and entries to bank and credit card registers to record client transactions
- Perform account reconciliations for bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit cards, loans, and other key financial statements
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including financial statement preparation and compilation support
- Prepare payroll
- Prepare sales tax returns
- Prepare and file year end 1099 forms for our client
- Conduct data entry tasks with precision, including double-entry bookkeeping and 10-key typing to maintain data integrity
- Individual tax return preparation
- S corporation and partnership tax return preparation
- Collaborate with internal team to deliver exceptional results for our clients
Requirements
- Bachelors or Associates degree in Accounting, or related field;
- Ability to work well with our internal team
- Ability to perform various tasks
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Experience with Quickbooks
- Experience with tax preparation software is a plus
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations accurately
- Proficiency in financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger entries
- Strong math skills coupled with attention to detail for data entry and bookkeeping tasks
- Detail oriented
- Ability to learn new technologies with growth of AI in accounting tasks
- Ability to handle deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Drive to take on new responsibilities and tasks
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal staff and clients
