Responsibilities
- Perform clinical procedures including venipuncture, catheterization, and aseptic techniques to support patient treatment plans.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory testing, radiography (including mammography), sonography, and specimen collection/processing.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to safety protocols.
- Monitor vital signs, conduct physical examinations, and assess patient condition to inform treatment decisions.
- Support surgical procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and assisting during anesthesia administration.
- Manage post-operative care including wound management and pain management strategies for animals recovering from surgery or illness.
- Educate pet owners on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication administration, infection control, and home care procedures.
- Help the doctor maintain detailed medical records.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment in all treatment areas.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team on discharge planning for hospitalized animals or those receiving long-term care.
